Shove Vole and Rubble

Recommended Posts

With the newest patch, shove voles delete half the food they eat which is nice for regolith disposal. I'm not sure what the devs' plans are with this creature so some of my suggestions below might be already on their way. If any devs are reading this, thank you for adding the mining laser. We needed that badly. Hoping for high temperature pumps still.

I hope these are decent suggestions but I'm all ears for feedbacks and criticism. :3

My suggestion for the shove voles are as follow:

  • Immune to meteorite strikes - Shove voles should be immune to meteorite impacts and high temperatures. It would be ridiculous how they are so ill adapted to their natural habitat. If they won't be immune to meteor strikes then can they at least sense when a meteor shower is going to happen? With them sensing a meteor shower, they'll burrow under regolith and hide from the onslaught and reburrow themselves quickly if the regolith they were hiding in breaks.
  • Shove vole's waste product - The way that shove voles eat and produce a block is a nice mechanic but in addition, I was hoping that shove voles would produce metal ore as an item spawning in it's pooped block with a low chance of happening. It would be worth farming shove voles that produce passive raw metal income.
  • Shove voles and hatches - Just a random thought but maybe hatches and shove voles are like cats and dogs in the ONI universe? Have not seen creature interaction like this ever since the game began.

It would be great if the voles would sense an incomming meteor storm and preemptively burrow. It could serve as an early warning system before you got your detectors set up.

How do teh voles reproduce? Do they lay eggs like all other creatures? Since they are creatures that live in deep space on surface of asteroids then maybe they could travel in meteors (or be meteors themselves). You would have a chance of new shove voles to spawn after each rain.

One of these creatures, I swear, the devs are going to make them reproduce like xenomorphs. XD

I do think that would be a nice thing to have Shove voles spawn from meteors. :3
