Quality of life and other Ideas

  1. I would love a measurement tool or something to save my rooms as "blueprints" or just to be able to click a button for how many tiles tall or wide you want it and it measures the other distance for you for the max tiles you want.
  2. A element tab so you can search so you can look for a specific material inside things you have already built, or even in the visible map.
  3. Mass pipes for gas and liquid, Say you want to move a massive amount of liquid or gas. Even if it took up two tiles at once I would love this.
  4. A closet item similar to the exosuit doc but for either type of clothes you want, for an early game option. Dupes wont go past without having on the clothes.
  5. Auto composting for extra seeds and things past a certain number we can set somewhere.
  6. A better way to intentionally kill critters for meat.
  7. A damn room bonus for a "kitchen" lower food spoil time or quicker cook times anything really.
  8. Clear in game "directions" on how to increase potential for each type of critter you know what I mean.
  9. Build-able special blueprints hidden around the map. Like the nullifier or the vaccilator thing.
  10. A parachute item that lets dupes jump down from high tiles.
  11. A grappling hook item that lets you reach further or swing places

My thoughts on these ideas, some of them are good, others less so:

  1. I LOVE this one. This would be perfect if there were a counter that incremented when laying down a line of tiles/pipes in a single drag. For example, dragging out a long line of pipes or wires, the tooltip counted up how far you dragged.
  2. There are mods that colorize every tile and building based on material, but an element tab that allows color filtering for every element would be awesome for spotting mixed gasses, liquids, different material builds, etc.
  3. I like the idea of mass liquid/gas transport, but every building is currently balanced around single pipe transports, and this change would require a major redesign of the current system.
  4. This would be neat if the dupe checkpoint could serve this role, as I can never think of a use for this building.
  5. I'd like the ability to compost seeds, but not auto-composting. That would also affect sleet wheat seeds, which is also the grain used in cooking.
  6. Yes, please.
  7. Yes, please.
  8. There does need to be a hints pop-up on how to breed and ranch critters, similar to the pop ups on heat, germs, and dupe movement in the beginning of the game. The ranching system isn't terribly clear for new players.
  9. No. Those things are pretty OP as they are, and having them limited resources is balanced. It would be nice to be able to deconstruct and rebuild AETN's elsewhere though, requiring a unique material, but they are fairly balanced as is.
  10. No, thanks. This would require more manual micromanagement, and dupes are immune to fall damage as is. I'm curious why you wanted this, though.
  11. Absolutely no. This would also require manual micromanagement, and could easily get dupes stuck and die.

Appreciate the comments, As for number 5 I meant like on the compost you could set it to a number say 25 after you have that many seeds of the selected type say mealwood it would have your dupes put it in the composter.

As fpr 9 I didn't mean exactly those items I just meant as an idea a blueprint of something not sure what it would be but yeah using a unique material and you could only build so many.

As for 10 and 11 just fun ideas but looks like a sneak peak they might have mini jet packs or something now. But as for further explanation I meant more of like a checkpoint area like when they pass it they would drop down or hook up to the other checkpoint kind of like the tubes but earlier game. And yes they are immune to fall damage but I feel they shouldn't be and there isn't really a way to make them jump places on purpose as part of the pathing.

Finally for 2 and 3 I like mods as well but I feel this feature should be in the core game, also for the mass pipes I meant more for like moving it for like storage. I'm super OCD and I like to merger most of my water and gas in "storage" tanks.

I would love to have (at least) tiles be different color depending on what they're built out of. I was about to make a topic on this suggestion all its own.
It'd just make it easier to tell if I accidentally built a tile out of sedimentary rock when really i meant for it to be igneous for example. Not to mention it'd be really astheically pleasing!:D
It also really bothers me that metal tiles made out of gold are still grey lol, that's the thing that gave me this idea

ShanyBoy I agree with your idea but from a game standpoint the search would be easier than making every material a different color even for just tiles. Would be really cool.

I also have another idea kind of like a gas vac, so instead of pumping gas it sucks it out of an area, helps with making vacuums for particular rooms you want with specific gasses.

Also think showers should have a room with some sort of bonus something new we haven't seen something crazy like lower dupe temp or something.
