FullMetalArthur
Hola a todos. Every 6 weeks we get updates, with new themes, buildings and features that make me hop on the hypetrain, entering the beta preview and looking at those unfinished artwork to see what else is new. I like it, it's GOOD and keep me playing. I think Klei is one of the few developers that actually listen to feedback and keep adding new stuff, to which they have earned my respect. Hovewer, with each new update comes the complete redisign of some aspects of the game that renders my current colony unplayable, like the way geysers work, or the lack of some wildlife (not critical I know), or the neutronium in my upper part of the map. I don't mind much, since I enjoy the game, as many of you do, so I start anew. And even with some few new things, ones would love to continue a colony when you are just opening the oil biome. I suppose is an unavoidable BAD thing from a game in early access, but a thing one can live with. And to this point I still love the game. But what happens when the developers add something that is BROKEN or is useless? Ever since the Steam Generator came out, can't make it work. Or the fact that there are 2 copper volcanoes and one steam vents that sprouts 59gr/s of steam. Maybe the pacus are going to be useful when I feed them the precious algae, No? well, at least i can eat them. The cosmic upgrade was so awesome, except is a complete waste of time trying to make it work since it keeps raining down debris on bunker doors, and even when funcioning at 100% it yields like 1k power between 3 solar panels, and only during the day, to which i need to connect coal generators. It's a waste of effort going up there. That makes people to look for exploits of any way to make it work. I've seen a solar panel in a room full of shinebugs. Funny. I think Klei should devote to balance and fix existing things before releasing yet another upgrade with new cool buildings that include something good, something bad and something broken. I love the game, but there are so many useful ideas around. One of these upgrades should be called The Fixing Upgrade. What about a insulated door? Just saying... Good day all. And say hi to your dupes from my part. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/93280-the-good-the-bad-and-the-broken/ Share on other sites
Fen1kz
Disable auto-update and just wait 2-3 updates before updating your game. That way you can have stable megabases and when it's time to build another one - it won't be the same because new features. yoakenashi
Good feedback, although I would personally categorize some of your "broken" items as "good" items. I finally got my steam generator to work without using a door-pump. It took many months of tweaking and trial and error, but I consider that trial and error a very important aspect of this game - although some would strongly disagree. I both like and dislike the variability of the vents/geysers. Playing with a bad roll really makes me rethink my strategy and keeps my play style fresh, then again I cannot apply what I learned last base. If I had to choose, I'd say keep them variable. The asteroid surface I have really enjoyed, it's so different and chaotic, and I don't know what to do with it either just yet. I like that it's not easy to just build a solar panel and call it a day. As for exploits, I think there are creative and unique ways that people find to solve problems and that is a good thing and likely something the developers want to see; then again there are some solutions that go too far. I haven't heard a good explanation as too what is "too far" and what isn't. I love this game too and would also suggest a "fix-all-the-bugs release" since the number of bugs on my personal list has been going up with each release - or maybe I'm just playing more, who knows, haha! Yes of course. Thank you for your input, you like some aspect that you think most would disagree, but the truth is that is not a friendly aspect of the game for new or intermidiate level of players. It took you month to set up a steam turbine but it should'nt be that way. Some things should be simplier because the real challenge of the game is adapting and improvising with the resources you get. That is the fun part. But struggling to make things work doesn't sound like fun. The new cosmic update seemed really cool, but alas, was dissapointed I couldnt do anything with it. With the ranching update, I kept my old colony because I read and saw puffts, pacus and dreckos were close to useless. These are the tiny details that to my at least, are broken. Variability and improvising is what this game is about, all the replay value of ONI is based on that which is why I've had like 5 colonies. I will keep playing it, maybe skipping an update each time, but I do hope Klei get the game closer to final release before it gets so complicated that nobody will ever buy it.
