A simple idea for water access would be a water spigot that ports water through a tile block. It would be as simple as the Heavy Watt tiles with a nub on either side of a block; one side being input the other output. This would allow for dupes to access water that could be fully enclosed. Also creates possibility of functional vertical wells with access up and down the sidewall. Since this utility creates several benefits over the pitcher pump the item can be researched and not immediately available.

Dupes don't need to collect water manually in mid game

Does day 200 counts as midgame? In that game everything was researched yet my dupes still needed to carry water because I found no water geysers and as result I preferred using algae for oxygen and CO2 cleaning (terrarium returns polluted water and has better algae to O2 rate)

I think mid game is when you have passed the use of algea terrariums and deoxidezers. But your idea would be an advance research. Could be useful if you don't want to setup a pump to hidrophonics tiles but piping seems less messy. You just have to be smart about how and where you set up your water tank. Ideally, try to set it up below your base, corner left of right. It's not complicated, use gravity to empty pockets of water from the start by digging below it. No fancy tech is necesary. In that way water tank should be theorically near terrariums where the CO2 is.

Algae is easy enough to get in good enough quantities, so why not? Especially after terrarium update to produce pwater. And thanks to algae and oil production my poluted water reserves also started to grow, may be even enough for electrolyzer... Still terrariums have an advantage of being anywhere so i also abused them for this reason - place one deep in CO2 pits and your dupes have at least something to breath while farming those slicksters.

That's a lot of moving. I used simpler option - pump, a lot of pipes and valves/regulators set to 230-250g/s of water dropping onto terrariums (terrarium uses 300, but they do not work all the time, unfortunately it is more reliable to make dupes do the rest) where possible and terrariums consume that water without problems.

In other places I simply set up smaller reservoirs (P.S. no idea why we can't put a tap onto pipe).
