Trynila
IS there any way we could label the piping by what is in it, and/or the wires by were they go? It would make looking at the maps of pipes/wires/etc so much easier. It would also be really nice if we could run multiple unconnected wires within a tile, or multiple pipes, etc. I don't mean the current wire & liquid pipe & gas pipe, or two pipes temporarily crossing the same tile, but two gas pipes (or two wires or two liquid pipes) in a tile along with everything else. The ability to have a pipe for water and a pipe for polluted water through the same flooring would be very nice. Voendomar
You think it would be like an advanced tech, unlocked by research? Dual-piping or something? Trynila
Maybe you research "thin pipes" which are intrinsically a little more pressurized and you can fit more of in a wall. Or maybe it's just inherent to the pipes from as soon as you unlock them. Either way, wouldn't it be nice? Bomato
Not sure about stacking pipes and wires because it makes everything much more complex and unintuitive on first glance. I feel the puzzle of designing efficient piping systems on a single 2D layer is a great challenge in the game. The issue I see is are the clumsy pipe and wire bridges that you can't interconnect with each other on the same tile but need one tile of normal pipe inbetween. Crossing 1-tile-spaced parallel lanes of piping or wiring becomes atrocious and a waste of space. To move large volumes of gas and liquids I need to place several parallel lanes, pumps and filters, making everything even more complex. I'd like to see high-capacity items maybe with a powered endstation that manages entry and exit of the high-pressure pipe environment. Had the same idea today to add labels and lettering, maybe sign-posts that open a tooltip you write. What would also be cool are huge 2-3 tile sized letters you can put into your base, Hollywood-esque, to label your base sections. fredhp
+1 to this! Multiple pipes in one tile would be great! Will enable efficient designs for bathrooms, farms, etc, and will simplify building design. My colonies usually have a mess of pipes: Pipes for bathroom, pipes for sinks, pipes for electrolyzer, pipes for coolant water (cool polluted water, cooled in a aquaturner or extracted from a cool slush geyser ). The stacking pipe don't need to be fully customized or with multiple layers... can be as simple as a mutiplexer/demultiplexer system: Just a 3 part system: A multiplexer adapter, a multiplexed pipe (i'll call it multipipe) and a demultiplexer adapter. Multiplexer adapter has 3 common pipe inputs and one multipipe output. Demultiplexer adapter has 1 multipipe input and 3 common pipe output. Multipipe can be connected only to its adaptors. This way a multipipe substitutes 3 common pipes, keeps base organized without breaking balance. Make it for liquids, gases, with multipipe in insulated, normal and radiant version. Multipipe should cost 3 times more than normal pipe version. It should be easily integrated with current 2D design model, without need to add new layers - just one part with special properties. Maybe the devs read this and implement - will be a big quality of life improvement! Smuch
I'm all for thin pipes personaly.Especialy is they let you get a double ones and/or more pressure and/or speed Quote Not sure about stacking pipes and wires because it makes everything much more complex and unintuitive on first glance. If this was an intended side of the game rather than an aspect of the grid system maybe it'd make for a worthwile puzzle aspect as the game would be better build around it. But I relly don't think this is the case here. The result feel cobbled together, unweildy and clash all too much with the decor system. (who is itself an all too important part of relieving stress for duplicants.)
