Exosuit docks power and oxygen linked strangely

Recommended Posts

I had thought that an exosuit dock uses power and oxygen to charge the suit and fill it with oxygen. However I've noticed that if the dock does not have oxygen it will continue consuming power to charge the suit indefinitely. If instead the the dock is intended to only be using power to pump oxygen into the suit, then it is as if the dock will run its pump continuously trying to pump vacuum into the suit.

This seems like it could be a bug. Has anyone else noticed this?

In a strange way it makes sense, and works exactly like a real life scenario. The dock would register the suit as needing air, and try to pump it from the pipe.

It would need some sort of sensor to detect whether the pipe carried gas or not.

The docks do have automation ports. I've never tried them, but I assume that might be one use for them.

The docks have such a large oxygen reservoir that you'd need the sensor on the exosuit dock itself.  If you have an intermittent but entirely adequate oxygen supply to your dock, a gas sensor on the pipe would disable the dock unnecessarily.

Then again, maybe pairing it with a buffer or filter gate would work, locking the dock down when the pipe has been empty for an extended period.
