This game is hard

Recommended Posts

Not exactly a complaint, I like challenging games, I'm just making an observation. I restarted about 12 times by now (if not more) because I keep making big mistakes in the planning of my colony. CO2 especially has been giving me a lot of trouble lately, my last game got shipwrecked when a bunch of my dudes collapsed a pillar of sand in their way and suffocated :S.

One thing that would help me, personally, is a 'colony planner'. No terrain or duplicants, just a tool in the menu where I could plan a basic colony layout that I like. My main problem right now is that I can't plan too far ahead, because there's so much stuff to bear in mind. I stopped my longest running colony because I realised that I was doing everything wrong and all my pipes and wires were all over the place, I didn't store my liquids properly, etc.

Yeah, Co2 will be a big help in late game, if it makes you feel any better I accepted every single dupe and struggle to make it past cycle 100 without dying, but it gave me a very quick learning experience.

I have had over 300 colonies now and I tend to build them the same way each time, keeping the design I like or improving on it, and trying out new things, there will always be an issue which crops up and causes me to adjust. Dont worry you will get there!!!

When you start playing oni you fail, over and over and over and over again. XD But eventually you know how to fix the things that happen in a general sense and you start being able to build in a more advanced manner. Complicated systems for electricity, oxygen, food, etc. are going to be easy to implement because you've got a grasp on the basics. And then all of a sudden you go from struggling to get past a 100 cycles to having multiple working bases on a thousand.

The fact that it's so hard to get there, that's what makes it so extremely gratifying.
