Zillvr Posted October 27, 2017 Share Posted October 27, 2017 It's such a shame and quite frankly embarrassing but I just got connected to a Forge match through Quick Match, expecting to be a helpful member of the team but once the match started, I realized I had reaaaally bad connection to the specific server that I joined through quickmatch. I felt really bad cause I even coordinated with the rest of the team before picking my character so I could fill a role the team needed. I was no help at all. Holding F, didn't even register long enough for me to land hits on enemies. At the back of my mind, I thought maybe I could reconnect to this specific The Forge server (which helped before on normal DST servers) since I remember seeing that we are able to see Servers Previously Visited when you click the Browse for Servers. Unfortunately, the server I Previously Visited doesn't show up at all. The team that I unintentionally permanently left from is down a player which is always demoralizing. I actually feel bad about what happened. If other players can join on-going matches, I would've felt better about mistakenly leaving the match forever. Which comes to my third point, players should be able to tell whether or not their connection to the server is good even WHILE in the Character Select Lobby cause if I could I wouldn't have started the match and instead took a break and play at a much more appropriate time. So I suggest the following: Quick Match Filter - be able to set what servers to only attempt to join based on connectivity. For example: (Only Join Servers: =<70 Ping) Reconnect to Match - manual disconnection or being disconnected for what ever reason, should not spell doom for other players you left. Join Match In-Progress - if someone leaves a server for whatever reason, other players in quick match queue should be able to fill their spot. (Isn't XP directly related to actual time spent in a match?) Maybe this option should be toggled if one doesn't mind joining on-going matches. (This has been suggested before but this really felt like something that would've been particularly helpful to the players in the server I disconnected from.) Ping In Lobby - be able to tell how bad or good your connection is before the match starts. Disconnect Button - include a disconnect button in all the screens of the Lobby and not just at the very first screen of character select OR previous match report. For ease of use. That's about it. Yup, so many times I've had people leave at the start of the match and end up being SO CLOSE to beating it, if we had that 1 more guy, we would of won. To compensate for EXP, there should be a "backfill" bonus exp granted for joining an in progress match (depending on what wave you join changes what exp you get, plenty of other games do it ) 2 hours ago, Zillvr said: Ping In Lobby - be able to tell how bad or good your connection is before the match starts. As someone who has very spotty internet at times i can safely say this is also needed, yes. Could we also get our ping in numbers? Sometimes I have it red and its fine, other times it's borderline unplayable. Overall these are some very good suggestions, nicely done ^^ I do hope we see a fair chunk of these implemented! It does? For some reason, it didn't reconnect me. Maybe I missed my window to return? I remember clicking for Quick Match and it started rolling through servers to connect to and not just one server that I wanted to reconnect to so I cancelled it and checked the "Browse Servers" and selected "Previously Visit" and got nothing (which what I discussed above). Sadly, I would hate to test out "reconnect by pressing quick match again after disconnect" on random servers though. It kills the momentum of other players legitimately playing the game.
