Gas and liquid mechanics rework: Mixed gasses and liquids

Recommended Posts

The more I think about it, the more nonsenical it appears to me that gasses dont mix in ONI.

In real life, carbon dioxide mixes with oxygen, hydrogen, natural gas and other gases to form what we call air.

Also, for all I know, breathing pure oxygen for a too long amount of time can be potentially fatal.

My suggestion is not only to incease realism, but also might improve how gases and liquids currently work.

Think about it: Instead of having to put a gas pump at the bottom of your base to filter out the carbon dioxide and send it to your air scrubber, you could simply put one or two air scrubbers anywhere you like and have it gradually filter out the carbon dioxide all over your base.

This also would not compromise hydrogen generators, as a gas pump linked to a filter set on hydrogen would still make it possible to send said hydrogen to your generators.

I know that some elements are heavier or lighter than others, but i think this severe separation as it currently exists in the game might be over the top.

But things that don't mix in real life either should still not mix in the game, like letting oil swim on top of water, not under it. I mean isn't that what the oil well is implying? Putting in water so the oil floats up and can be extracted?

Speaking of liquids mixing, I always found it strange how polluted water does not mix with pure water. Perhaps instead of being a new element entirely, there should be a pollution meter on water to indicate the degree of hazardous material contained in it.
