All my natural gas geysers are on the right side of my base in my current set up, and it's kinda a pain that I have to run my heavy watt cable to the left side of a transformer and then run the normal cable from the right side to the left into my base. Luckily I'm swimming in materials in my main base. But on my test base I didn't have much available metal when I was trying to set up my power grid, which meant those 4 wasted cords forced me to have to search out more metal.
