EleSigma
I like the current "inside-out" map we have but at the same time a traditional map set up with a defined up and down, a surface at the top and the nuetronium and magma at the bottom. The starting area could be right below the surface. This would require a new biome for the surface. It could be cold, void of gasses or gas pockets, and could be composed of sandstone and granite. There should be some hazards with going on the surface, maybe meteor storms that could kill colonists and destroy weaker materials like sandstone? radiation? (if that's ever implemented). though seeing how the game isn't completely based on reality, the surface biome could also be a wildcard biome. Imagine digging up to the surface to find it's a high pressured, polluted oxygen filled toxic jungle full of hostile creatures and acid rain? A hot volcanic hellscape or iceworld with geysers and volcanoes spewing either lava, toxic gasses, or frozen water into the void? BlueLance
It would also be pretty funny if there is less or no gravity when you get to the top and find water is floating or is on the ceiling, but I think this would be cool but if it ever happened I reckon it would be a lot later in developement Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/79433-surface-biomes-and-a-new-map-mode/#findComment-927481 Share on other sites
LeadfootSlim
I'd like to see some diversity in the current biomes first; ice, hot and toxic biomes seem to be uniform throughout. It'd be nice to see a "deep" version of those biomes for when you really delve into them, like finding ice-monster caves with glimmering jewels deeper in... A way to breach Neutronium eventually and expand into space could be a "win condition". Build a spaceport, establish trade with the universe/etc, and declare yourself a winner. Certainly, the other biomes should be fleshed out, given more unique resources, creatures (hostile ones especially), and that of course would mean new buildings, uses for currently unused resources and new resources, items, etc. Something like my idea, if it happens, I wouldn't expect until at least a year from now.
