First look feedback v.208689(debug)

Recommended Posts

Greetings today I First purchased and installed the product (Inspired by Markipliers letsplays). I'm gonna leave anny issues or feedback I got when running the game for the first time.

Game was really fast to download and install - kudos for that!

First I went to options to see what's available to change - the metric units was selected by default (if it read the default measurements from the PC - more kudos)

Now my first issue - My PC is running 1024x768 resolution on my CRT monitor(I know it's kinda outdated) so I went to change the UI scale to about 110% so it was easy to read while relaxed in my chair. When I went to generate a new world, the assemble crew screen was too big to fit the screen, so I had to go back and forth until it fit at 90% UI scale. (Visible it wasn't meant primarily for 4:3 resolution).

At first I thought I would be able to scroll the crew descriptions sideways, but that was not the case. Perhaps this could do as a suggestion - make scrollable crew descriptions (so I can scroll left and right trough several crewmembers).

Another small issue was misplaced tooltips - mouse gives tooltips when hovering over the text as if it was located 0,5 text height higher than it actually does (hovering mouse over bottom half of digging skill text will show a tooltip for medicine).

All the tooltips were great and helpful, except for decor expectation when it is not clear what is the range of decor - does 45 decor expectation means the duplicant will demand a palace or a few paintings.

Once I got into the game I paused the game to see what is what and check out all the controls and menus. I guess there will be a tutorial in later development here. Having watched letsplays helped me somewhat in this regard, also the tooltips help a lot about what does what. Suggestion - have the game paused when creating and loading game.

Suggestion - the game really needs edge scrolling for the mouse, it's awkward to use keyboard to look around. It is somewhat easy to navigate using right mouse button, but it's frustrating that it closes any open menus at the same time.

Suggestion - maybe show remaining resources for things that use them (like algae for algae terrariums)

The music, sounds and artwork are gorgeous! Kudos for that!

issue - duplicates keep getting themselves trapped when building or digging.

issue - the game is so enjoyable and fun that I'm lacking sleep (I'm gonna do a quick fix by going to bed and resuming tomorrow).

That's about it for the first hours of gameplay.

Hope this helps!

As long as you don't have any tools active, you can scroll the screen using right-button dragging. When tools are active, right button cancels/closes them.

That's kind of part of the challenge, setting up things right so they don't do it. You can achieve it using priorities or by giving them commands gradually.

That's a feature

Most of the time I need scrolling while I'm using tools. Mouse wheel button does the job well, I'll be using that now.

Yeah that's more correct - too bad I can't edit the post now :/

Suggestion - have a part that automates switching power off during the night.
