Plumbing Assistance!!

Recommended Posts

Okay so i set up a water pump at the bottom of a well of water. Placed some piping in going vertical to the spot I need. I also have another pipe coming off of it at a right angle to the right. so it basically looks like half a T. I assume the water would split 50/50 at the intersection. which it did. now heres the problem: it stopped splitting at all. it will start to go down the right pipe, and then turn around and go up the vertical pipe. No water goes to the right, and the pipe is completely empty. I have tried setting up a loop instead of a right angle but that still only sends it up vertical. the only thing i can think of is that the water has priority? so if there is oxygen pumps (the ones that work from piped water) up top, the game default assumes it should be sent to the top? i have two up there. but i also have one on the right that is now getting no water. why does the water turn around in the pipe?

Water doesn't act like water. It's more like a car driving on a one way road.
Once it has its route it'll stick to it. If there are multiple exit points for the water
when the pipe system is updated it'll start flip flopping between each branch as they come up.
You should avoid making a system where the water needs to reverse flow.

Multiple paths sometimes have weird "pathing" issues in pipes with multiple outputs right now. I believe this happens when the output on one of the pipes is occasionally backed up or blocked (especially on output vents that are getting occasionally overpressured, or can't output fast enough), which causes the liquid to temporarily reverse the flow towards the other output and cause issues. There's a fix, though!

Anywhere along each of the separate paths, build one liquid bridge instead of normal piping. The bridges act as a one way valve and can never "back up" or stop working, so the liquid will always get to it (never reverse), and once it's crossed the bridge, the liquid can't cross back (since it's one way).

Will prevent the weird flip-flopping/reversing of paths. :)

Not an ideal solution, but it works! :D
