A silly question

Good day. Welp. I'm still confused about a little something. I know it's pretty noob. I've got through some tutorials, but still no solid answer. Maybe i'm just too dumb, idk. XD

 

It's pretty basic. I've seen that you can make a solid change in the world you're playing by editing the local game' files (For instance, maybe a brain). But what do i do to make the mod apply that change? I mean, i edit the game file in a separated one? Idk anymore.
