General Suggestions

Changes to Current Game:

  1. Not sure if it is a bug, but the Bio Distiller doesn't seem to output any liquid at all despite requiring liquid piping.  When I mouse-over the machine, it says that Algae and Water production are 0 while it is consuming slime.  When I check my Algae reserves, it doesn't go up either.
  2. Plants should photosynthesize (CO2 --> O2) when exposed to light.  As a balance, you could have them require occasional watering or fertilizing.  Additionally, the food they produce should contain a portion of the water they consumed over their lifetime, which will be "peed" out by the duplicants after they eat them.
  3. Air filters like the Air Deodorizer or Algae Deodorizer should produce some kind of solid material (i.e. the sand should not be destroyed).  Have it be like fertilizer or slime.  The Water Purifier should also produce this (the sand should not be destroyed)
  4. We should be able to set up irrigation with liquid piping (i.e. don't make plants require piping, but make it optional and allow us to pipe water to plants).  Maybe a sprinkler system would be nice too
  5. I'm not entirely sure, but I don't think the water used by the Shower and the Lavatory are conserved, which doesn't really make sense.
  6. The range of the decor structures to be built should be overlaid in the pre-build blue-print mode
  7. Mopping should not destroy the water.  We should be able to set a destination to transfer the mopped liquid to

Suggested Additions to Game:

  1. Give us a tech to build robots.  They can require gold and other precious minerals (abyssalite?).  The robots can do tasks like delivering resources to things or cleaning up minerals and things left by digging
  2. Give us a machine to convert oxygen and hydrogen into water.  The machine should require abyssalite to build since this reaction in real life is extremely exothermic (it is explosive and gives off a lot of energy).  The machine could also produce energy or something.
  3. Give us an option to convert hydrogen, chlorine, and water into acid.  Acid could be used as the consumable for the third science station, among other things
  4. I was surprised Nitrogen was not in the game, despite it being a common gas.  Would be nice to have
  5. Better food should decrease stress.  Currently there's almost no benefit to ever eating anything other than meal worms
  6. Tiles should have a porosity or something that shows the maximum water pressure they can handle
  7. We need a pressure overlay

yeah i had the exact same idea (post) for maintenance type of robots, would be cool to see.

Wait does this actually work?  I thought dupes had to strictly deliver the water otherwise the algae wouldn't absorb it.  If this is the case where simply dropping water on them works, TIL.  And thanks for sharing this bit of knowledge =P

hm okay that's interesting.   I might have to approach my room design a bit differently then.  I usually go 4 tall so I can fit 2 high structures with room for paintings and other stuff on the wall above, but maybe 5 tall?  But it gets annoying to dig 5 talls because dupes cant reach
