It might be a planned feature, but I already feel a need for hatches - pretty much horizontal doors to better manage gas flow. We already have part of this, the airlock doors have a rotate option but it looks odd as the dupes are twice as tall as wide so a hatch would in theory only be one tile wide. Also the break in the ladder movement can get a little annoying.
