Purifying water

I thought you were able to purify contaminated water by heating it until it converted into gas, and then you cool down the gas and that will be purified water. Does this still work? Has someone made a system like this and would like to share their creation? I'm quite curious to see how you would build something like that.

Here is how I learned to do it,

2nd screenshot in his thread pretty much explains everything. Keep in mind process takes a while and adding thermal regulators in insulated enclosure to cool steam down is also a good idea so you dont have to deal with excess heat in your base from steam
