Oxygen suits?

Recommended Posts

Are there going to be oxygen suits, as in you research the suit and a oxygen tank machine, the oxygen tank machine will create oxygen tanks and they can be used on the suit, which will help you dupes explore areas that have high carbon dioxide, at least until the tank runs out of oxygen, or the suit will allow your dupes to breath underwater and mine underwater. Just a thought

Honestly we could not not get something like this. First because of the game's wallpaper, second because as you build your colony and explore biomed that have things a little bit more dangerous than oxygen causing diarrea, you will just not be able to send duplicants on missions ouside your base and let them breath freely.

The question is how will it work mechanically. I think it would probably be stations connected to an oxygen pipe that fills up the suit, and then either you assign the suit to a duplicant (would still pose the question of how you tell hil to put it on/off) or you will be able to designate zones that are forbidden until suited, so the duplicants will go and equip the suit before going to said zone.

Maybe similar to the Massage Table? You assign a duplicant to the "suit wardrobe" and he puts it on. Maybe, whenever a duplicant has a suit on his behaviour changes - you are able to move him freely (similar to Rimworld's combat mode). It brings up the topic of whether building/mining would work the same way. If it does it would make some people suit their dupes up so they can make them work on whatever they want as a way of controlling the dupes more easily. I think dupes should stress more when in oxygen suits. That way you would have to make some bases of a sort when exploring a long distance - an oxygenised place where dupes would be able to suit down and relax and maybe refill their oxygen tanks.
