Gunpowder and Slurtle slime against trees

Without much talking:

— A single gunpowder destroys tree

— Any amount of slurtle slime in a stack counts as 1 chop with normal axe (but placing 40 slimes as 40 stacks will do 40 chops)

Why does it matter? Well, I've been looking into toadstool lately, searching for somewhat valuable alternatives to flingomatic/ice staves to be able to rush this boss early on (to destroy 2 mushrooms and burn the others, giving opportunity to deal somewhat decent damage to boss while they are burning). Noone uses slurtle slime as an explosive anyway (well, I use it on dragonfly to get a scale sometimes, just like gunpowder, but thats the only use for it in my opinion)! Can it at least deal damage to trees equival to, like, 3-4 chops of an axe?

(Actually I use weather pains on the toad's trees, but the point stands.)
