2nd Winter lasting only 14 days normal?

Recommended Posts

Just got through my 2nd Winter and i noticed it was short by 2 days(wiki says it lasts for 16 days) It started normally at day 93 but it started raining at day 106 causing the snow to thaw and by day 107 it was completely melted.

Wilson was still freezing though if i traveled without a thermal stone, i'm not sure if it's because i shaved his beard or because it technically was still winter?

But then again by the next day Goose/Goose said hi ....so ya did my game glitch? ending winter so early(i wanted to kill McTusk again too)

My World Settings are all at Default with the sole exception of World Size which is at Huge.

Yeah, basically...go by the lighting and music.  : P  It may not be a very _loreful_ way to tell when the seasons are changing, but it works.  If it's still blue-tinted, then no matter what, snow or not, it's still winter.  If everything is green and the daytime music has gotten UNBELIEVABLY JAZZY! then it's spring, even if you're still freezing from time to time.

So, bearing that in mind, I'd say both of your screenshots are definitely spring.  The lighting looks green to me and it is, of course, raining.

(Why is it important whether it's "technically" a season or not, if you're still suffering from bad temperatures?  Because the effects specific to that season go away (snaps fingers) the absolute _second_ the lighting changes!  On the first day of fall you can still overheat but _no more wildfires_, on the first day of spring you can still freeze but now crops grow, etc.  This has saved me a lot of time.  And fling-o-matic fuel!)

That said, I've started randomising my season lengths now (for fun!) so _I_ can't really go by number of days much anymore.  I've started making sure to plant birch trees near camp so I can see what their leaves are doing.  Heh.
