Characters that use "pets"

I would like to know why in Don't Starve Together, characters that can use pets or simply anyone that has befriended a pigman or whatnot, can't do like in the solo Don't Starve game, which is issuing an attack command but not actually attacking and the pets attacking without the character having to.

I understand that it could be somewhat imbalanced in PVP but you could just make it that it only works on anything that isn't a player or isn't player owned.

I guess if Klei wanted the feature to be in they would have done it in one of the numerous updates but I am just wondering what exactly is their justification.

Isn't this implemented already?

I always use that with bunnymen/pigmen/rock lobsters.
