Killer bees attacking bee hives?

I have just witnessed the weirdest thing. It's monsoon season and some pigs had disturbed some bees, so killer bees were out (besides the aggressive worker bees). Most of them flew back into the hive at dusk; two of them just sat outside the hive, attacking it! They weren't stuck; they were flying back and forth and clearly doing the attack animation as they got up to the hive. Another bee kept coming out each time they stung the hive, then going back in because all it could see were other bees. I don't know if they were damaging the hive at all; it hadn't been destroyed by the following morning and I really couldn't spare the time to hang around and find out, but they were still going at it when I left, and a third bee had joined them!
