Pictou
Hello everyone, I'm writing this post to report a bug when generating the map (we did it 6 times) on default settings. When adding caves, Mac Tusk disappears, marble are barely present on surface, and there is almost no gear (1-2). When we remove the caves the map is better generated and enough ressources can be gathered or at least they do exist on the map. When using the settings to generate more mac tusk, machines (no setting on marble?), it's ridiculous, there are igloos every corner, same for machines. Did someone find a fix for this? Thank you all, have a good day. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/67915-bug-when-adding-caves/ Share on other sites
Tumalu
I've never had a problem with not finding mactusks in worlds with caves added. Maybe you're just having bad gen luck...? The chess biome (so, marble and clockworks) is definitely a big luck thing, because it's entirely dependant on how many chess setpieces the worldgen rng picks. Mactusks is generally 1~4 (often if there's one there's a couple others nearby, so the number snowballs towards 3~5 when that happens) but I've heard of people having maps without them, which should probably be counted as a bug- on normal settings it shouldn't be able to not spawn. In DST there is usually 2~4 gears on topside in my experience so the amount IS fairly low (The big thing is the absence of The Wooden Thing setpiece that gives you 4~6 gears in singleplayer every world!), but at least more can be found in ruins (Granted this is NOT something you want to be required to get your first 3 gears for first icebox and one flingo XD) and, with luck, from graves or tumbleweeds. You DO sorta need a minimum of 3 for a well-functioning base... otherwise you're almost forced into a substitute minibase and/or mostly explore caves all summer without that flingo. Too much risk of your base and all your chest storage going up in flames when you're not looking. Pictou
Well I don't know if it's bad luck, but it happend 6 times in a row (no Mac Tusk, barely one or 2 gears, sometimes no marble on surface) and we are now frustrated with the game because we spend around 15 days in the world before realising it's not playable if we want to reach our goal which is to discover the caves and get out alive. I appreciate the solutions you provided but we already tried them and it's exhausting, especially when you know that it's all based on luck. The luck thing could be at least biased so a minimum of ressource is guaranteed. One time, we only lacked gears, we barely had 1. So we searched in tumbleweeds, it took us 16 days of search to have enough gears (1 fridge + 2 flingo). In DST without caves, there are like 5-8 machines almost every time, when caves are added we usually have 1-3 max. I wasn't sure it was a bug at first, so I posted here, is there a way to report bugs to developers? Arlesienne
What is the map size? It plays a big role in generating the world. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/67915-bug-when-adding-caves/#findComment-780218 Share on other sites
Pictou
For every game, the map was set to large. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/67915-bug-when-adding-caves/#findComment-780224 Share on other sites
