Local server connection issue

Hi,

I have some issues to connect to a server hosted by a friend in the local network :

If I search in the LAN server list, I can't see it.

If I search in all servers list, I see it but when I try to join, I have the message "server not responding". The server has a ping of 33.

The only way to join the server is to use the steam function "join the game" or when my friend invite me. But in this case, I can't enter a cave because I also have the "server not responding" issue.

We try to stop our firewalls, I manage to ping him, we restart Don't Starve Together client and server, and also Steam client. We have the same Don't Starve version (176412). I manage to connect to other servers in the browser list.

We use a wireless connection but we manage to play multiple games (without caves) without problem.

Does someone has a clue to solve this problem ?

@Veknelyon: Is your friend running a dedicated server, or just running a server from the host game screen?

If it's not a dedicated server, could you try the following? On the main menu, after clicking "Play" to log in, open the console with the backtick (`) key, and type:

c_connect("X.X.X.X") 

Replacing X.X.X.X with your friend's IP address, and press enter.

It would also be useful if you could perform the following two tests, and give us the logs after each test:

• Test #1: Try to connect to your friend's server in the browse server list (Where you were getting "Server not responding" before)
• Test #2: Join your friend's game using the "join the game" feature in steam, and then try to enter the caves.

After each test, each of you should quit the game, and then you'll need to collect the following log files:

From the person NOT hosting:

• Documents/Klei/DoNotStarveTogether/client_log.txt

From the person hosting (Replace the 'N' in Cluster_N with the number of the slot you were hosting in, eg: Cluster_1 for the first slot, Cluster_2 for the second, etc):

• Documents/Klei/DoNotStarveTogether/Cluster_N/Master/server_log.txt
• Documents/Klei/DoNotStarveTogether/Cluster_N/Caves/server_log.txt
