SW and RoG don't work together?

Recommended Posts

You can only initially generate the world as either RoG or Shipwrecked. But afterwards, you can use the Seaworthy to travel between RoG and SW assuming you make them compatible.

If you start the game as RoG, you can craft the Seaworthy using the Shadow Manipulator to generate a new SW that you'll be able to travel back and forth.

If you start in SW you simply find the Seaworthy in one of the islands.

Hope you didn't expect shipwrecked to be a further vanilla game add on like Reign of Giants, because you're in for a world of disappointment.

That would be a technical achievement for the game if it was. Doubling the world size, figuring out how seasons, giants, weather, etc would work. I think it was implemented acceptably though under the circumstances. You can technically start a vanilla/RoG world and eventually get to Shipwrecked in progression as you think you would.

There's plenty of untapped space they could use for islands, and mixing the effects of each season could have worked great.

If they took a normal DS world and tried surrounding it with islands I'm not sure the remaining space would be very playable. A SW world alone has more playable space than a regular DS world. It would be an interesting attempt though.
