Puddles

Recommended Posts

Well, I got sick of the neverending hell that is the dry season, having to leave camp just to exploit the stasis game mechanic just so things don't get destroyed kinda ruined the spirit of the game, so i went to customize and set dry season to none but now puddles won't go away at the end of monsoon season. Says they're supposed to dry up by day 3 of dry season and its now day 6 of what would've been dry season, anyone have any suggestions?

I haven't done too much messing around with world customization and i don't have it up right now but if i remember correctly, there should be an option to turn off "weather" or "meteors"? I think that would take away the meteors without having to turn off dry season. (Was there actually an option to turn dry season off? lol)

Not sure if this will help but any other advice i have is just to not panic during dry season. Make sure to have extra stacks of resources in your chests (sticks/grass/etc) and enough food in your ice boxes to last you through the season. If your island is big enough or if you can manage, designate a part of your island as a "meteor landing zone" and run over there to wait out the meteors after you get the warnings (this will net you some dragoon eggs too!). Meteors aren't tough to dodge if you're not panic sprinting, it just takes a little reaction time. Seasons get easier to deal with the more experience you have so take it slow (:

If your issue is base destruction, here are couple of tips:

  • Meteors (technically Dragoon Eggs) fall only slightly beyond your screen at the minimum zoom level (i.e. camera is farthest away).
  • There are always exactly 3 warnings in the form of earth quakes before an eruption occurs. Eruption will start after 3 warning when about the same time between second and third warning has elapsed.

While dodging them is recommended, you can alternatively stock up on armor (limestone preferred, and a football helmet to further reduce the damage, one extra of each.) and healing items (yellow mosquito sacks work well), and just stand in a place without burnable objects, healing yourself when you get hit.

To give you an idea, here is how my island looks like in my current game. The beach surrounded by the magma turf on the right corner of the island is where I go to handle the incoming dragoon eggs. While my character is standing on the beach tiles in that area, my base is safe, and there is a significant buffer between where the eggs land and where the flammables are. Closest egg to my base fell midway through the magma turf.

EDIT: Oh BTW, yes puddles evaporating is tied directly to the dry season (as opposed to the season after monsoon). So puddles aren't going anywhere without having a dry season, until the next patch where they fix this problem. And if you wish, you can turn the volcano off, without removing dry season, from world customization.

I could do that but wouldn't that also make the volcano go away? I would still like to be able to enter it
