How can I make an irregularly sized character

I want to Make a Banana man mod that I've done all but the art for and i want him to look kinda like this:

                                                      

basically i want to have the Torso of the character be the entirety of the banana, have no head, and then just have the arms and legs as they normally are, but keep the animations that are provided by Don't Starve. But using the sprite editor and some other stuff i just can't figure it out, in game it just shrinks back down to normal torso size rather than having the larger re-sized image. Is there anyway to do this without having to make my own animations? Is there a way to re-size the animations?
