Dedicated Server suddenly stopped working

Recommended Posts

A few hours ago, I did the dedicated server update. Since then, The server seems to launch successfully, but the server is not visible in the browser.

It was working up until the update. Reading through the logs, I could not tell what was wrong. Could anyone else look at it and see what's wrong?.

Log files are attached, one for Master and one for Caves.

Hey @TrapheekJam welcome to the forums. Have you checked the LAN tab too? Also this could be due to your client running on a different build compared to the dedicated server tools. Make sure your client is also updated. Report back if you find it or not, cheers.

Can you try to verify the integrity of the tool cache for the DST Dedicated Server Tool? Comparing your log to my server's log, yours is in a previous version build. (Unless I'm completely mistaken)

Try the verify thing, with both the Server Tool and the DST Client. (source)

Yeah, forgot about SteamCMD, I just started using it too since this guide was released. However I do believe it auto-updates whenever the StartDSTServers.bat is run. (if you're running the server based on the guide made by the devs, linked above). In which case, verify the integrity of the game cache for the client. That would probably be where the issue is.

We have the same ports used for the server.ini's under the caves and master folders. Your cluster.ini has a different master_port, but that shouldn't be an issue. If it was, the server wouldn't reach the "ready!" state. Only other thing I can think of right now is to restart your steam client.

I reinstalled DST client and reinstalled Dedicated Server through Steam. I am able to launch and connect to the server if i run through Steam.

I retested launching the dedicated server through SteamCMD. I did not see it in the browser. I conclude that the SteamCMD version has an issue?

Your log would show your current version, the latest update post (currently 166529) would always be located in the General Discussion while all previous builds will be moved to the Developers Log.

My dedicated server tool is version 166529 (based on the logs) if you're wondering. I run it through steamCMD, and I've been able to access my server through the latest version of the game client too(166529). You can check your Dedicated Server Tool that the steamCMD runs in this location steamcmd\steamapps\common\Don't Starve Together Dedicated Server and open the version.txt. The version is also stated at the top of the master/caves server logs.

I'm not really sure anymore what's wrong. Is your dedicated server tool running the same version as your client?

Probably, though I have no actionable experience with using steamCMD. You could also however try to force steamCMD to get the new files again by deleting dontstarve_dedicated_server_nullrenderer.exe found inside steamcmd\steamapps\common\Don't Starve Together Dedicated Server\bin then start up the server again through  StartDSTServers.bat.

See if that works.
