WickerB
Hello everyone, I know dedicated servers create a lot of help threads, so I'll be concise. 1. I've managed to host and join a dedicated server, but the "game_mode" and "server_intention" settings in settings.ini don't respond. When I put in "survival" or "wilderness" in them, the server still can't identify the game type when you browse for the server. How can I get the server to both show and let me choose what game mode to run in? Am I overlooking something? ("game_mode = wilderness" is what I do). All other settings.ini options work. 2. The server also doesn't seem to acknowledge my worldgenoverride.lua file, and instead uses default settings. How can I get the server to implement my override settings? 3. Lastly, can someone point me in the direction of a guide to running mods on a dedicated server? Any help is appreciated. Is there a command or a settings string I can change to fix this? Any help is appreciated. WickerB
UPDATE I've managed to solve the settings.ini file (turns out when you make the changes is just as important as what you change) and learn how to reply without quoting. Now I'm just stumped on the worldgenoverride.lua and performing a server reset in survival mode. WickerB
UPDATE I learned how to reset a server. I've been testing different worldgenoverride.lua's- less text, different sources to copy from, etc., but to no success. For the record, my .lua is in the dedicated folder. Zillvr
Hey @WickerB welcome to the forums. While I can't answer all your questions, I'd like to inform you about the Quick Setup Guide created by the developers that utilizes the new dedicated setup process. What settings.ini was is now cluster.ini which is placed in the root folder beside the Caves and Master folders of the dedicated server. In that guide, you'll also see that the worldgenoverride.lua should be placed in their respective folders. The Overworld's worldgenoverride.lua should be in the Master folder, while the caves' worldgenoverride.lua should be in the Caves folder. I hope that helps, cheers. WickerB
Thank you for making everything clear. I see now that the guides from the wiki that I was using are now out of date. Despite that, I managed to solve all of my issues with the old setup method, barring the .lua. If I were to not want to start all over until say, next week, would there be a way to make the .lua work with the old configuration?
