Swapping of the items in the inventory (bug or no bug)

Recommended Posts

Dear Klei!

That kind of issue was there since the original Don't Starve.

While equipping items like weapons or tools, they apparently jump from one slot in the inventory to another. Say, you equip an axe which is in the backpack. Then you unequipped it for, say, a shovel. The axe ends up in the slot SOMEWHERE in the inventory, not where it previously had been. And so on.

That "kangaroo" jumping of the equipable items do sometimes drive me nuts .. and not probably only me.

Is it possible to make it this way ( or sort of this way ) -

(1) if the item (like axe, shovel etc) was in a certain slot, it should return to that slot, unless the slot is occupied

(2) if the item is new, it should take a previously unoccupied slot, if possible

(3) if there is a lack of slots ( which includes the previously occupied, or reserved ones ) then the item should land into the slot of the item previously equipped. 1-to-1.

Something like this.

It has nothing to do with the qualities of the game, just an annoyance with the interface. So many times it happens that the unequipped armor ends in the backpack instead of the main inventory, the items in the main inventory are replaced with the picked up crap .. instead of the crap going to the backpack .. and so on.

I don't think its a huge issue, but then again its probably not a very big deal to fix it.

I recon players gotta appreciate the "item inventory slot persistence" feature.

Thanks ;)
