Co-op Feedback

Recommended Posts

Finally a lot of people that I know have purchased this game during the winter sale. This give me the ability to see how the game is like in a private server co-op experience. And this is what I've found...

Character Imbalance

We found out that some characters are useless while others are absurdly unfair. I don't think this suits a cooperative game, because what our group ended up doing is avoiding all pointless characters and only used unfair ones. You may think that we'd switch to worse ones eventually as we get bored of the game, but that's not so. In fact, after the seasons were complete, the game felt beaten and pointless to play. Wasn't surprised to feel this way, which is why I want PvP more than anything. When we first started playing and failing, we tried to look for characters that had exclusives and provided the team with benefits, rather than just themselves. So that's what this game needs but lacks, balanced characters that benefit a team rather then themselves.

Playing Together Constantly

Another thing that bugged me about this survival game when compared to others, is that it required you to be on with your team the entire time. Life keeps calling for each of us so we end up getting off the game an awful lot. No one wants to play alone, because what if a boss comes which has the hp set for multiplayer? What if your teammate dies, who's gonna be around to save him? All the what ifs, making it very easy to realize that this game is intended for singleplayer, not multiplayer whosoever. In singleplayer you can just pause and play later, which doesn't effect anyone else very much unlike multiplayer. Very little balance has yet to be done to the game, hope for things to change.

Longer Term Goals

We need a reason to play longer. I have a feeling that's what the DLC for the game will bring. Let's hope...

Caaaaaaaaaaavvvvvesssss...  Exploring the ruins is fun, and difficult.  Rain can strike at anytime, and can last for days, making the eyebrella invaluable.  You can't use an umbrella/helmet, because you need a lantern or miner's hat on at all times.  Monkeys will steal your stuff, depths worms can come from nowhere.  The ruins cycle can be brutal if you're unprepared.  There's not much food down there, unless you know where to look.  You can get mountains of beard hair during the cycle's peak, which will be well appreciated by your team.  A good long-term goal is making the houndius shootius, or exploring the entire ruins, including the huge, dangerous maze.

Also, I've 1v1'd the Deerclops as WES.  He's not hard.  Just be prepared, with plenty of armor, at least a tenticle spike, or preferably a fresh hambat, and a stack or so of jerky.  Which is easy to get.  Have 4-8 drying racks up early, keep them stocked with meat, and don't eat the jerky.  Need more meat?  Kill a kolafant!  Or a tallbird, or beefalo, or convert a pig...

Didn't think of actually trying in a cave, mind as well do that next. As for fighting a boss solo, you may be right, but it's an awful lot of combat and risk just to play by yourself. No one in my group agrees on playing the game solo when others are not on. The idea of hearing one of us lost the game and we weren't there to be able to prevent it, would be aggravating. Also I get where you're going with making up goals in the game, but once you do it all, feels like nothing left to do. Planting, harvesting, gathering, and crafting is isn't fun, if it's done without reason.

I'd want to work on bigger projects. Ones that are more time consuming and resource demanding. Like for example building a house, furnishing it, and so on. I also want more threats, ones that aren't bosses. Bosses are great for challenging my survival, but they're too predictable. I'd like challenges to arise randomly and having to think quickly to resolve them.

You could turn up frog rain, or install Super Hound Waves, which seems to be wonky right now.  And you don't have to fight the boss if you're alone.  When you hear him coming, or if you know what day he's coming, get as far from base as you can and let him wander around.   https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=544126369&searchtext=

Ok so i read what you wrote and her is my opinions.

True very true ;

I found my self always playing as Wilson because he have no really bad stuff to him from only his beard that is very useful.

i always finding my self looking more how i will play (Alone) on the together servers more then thinking about my teammates , how ever me and my friend have played together and i was Wilson and he was the Old Lady (cant remember  her name) ; so i was pretty good for fight monster cause i can restore my sanity by sleeping while he can't sleep so he would be keeping taking poop from the beefalos and picking the plants we planted in our base/camp  because if his sanity was under 120 he would had an bad time restoring it .

and too i was exploring around while he was keeping the base up , however i didn't feel its fair that i go exploring while he will keep the base up.

and that what i didn't liked if we all want to play the same just take different rules later we need to play as one character or play as Wilson.

but i guess its in some point was made so players as they choose their character they already choose his rule in the group of the survivors.

like

  • Wilson - He pretty much can take any rule at the base or outside of it cause he is like the default character.
  • Wolfgang- He pretty much can take rules like keeping the base up / mining / collecting resources and fighting for an short time when the group has a lot of food so he could be used , Oh and his sanity goes down a lot quicker near monsters and in the dark.

and about the

I have no problems with that right now so i won't post my opinion on this.

I want more survival challenges. An example would be like having to deal with thirst, a wild animal nearby, or some hostile invading enemies. Ones that aren't dogs or spiders, which I feel like they're more for singleplayer than they are for multiplayer.
