[ a mega annoying bug ] SaveWrecked

[ nothing found about this in the SW forum via the search form with keyword save and character deleted ]

 

   That's a story of a man , who have an awsome game, great map layout , found gears and beefalo at days 1 , reach day 156 , fear nothing , have all stuff , 2 nice base camp and many more. Then this man decided to check the forum , post 2 or 3 thing, took a coffe  , and reload the game.

 

   Then surprise , all my saved game are deleted. Thats happened one time before , but this time , i loose all character also , i have only wilson ... i play with 3 mods , mini map hud , always on status and extra equip , maybe thats the mods did that wierd bug.

 

   Is it happened to anyone before ? does any solutions exist to fix this ? or am i totally rekt ( i don't use the cloud ).

Well , i start a new game , i died , the animation of unlocking walani start. after that , i recover all my character  . i already have a similar bug , but it didn't delete character , just the save.

 

i checked the logs files , have some error in worshop_log.txt and cloud_log.txt. Playing with mods in an early acces seams to be a bad idea.

 

By the way , i said i don't use the cloud , but i did , i am stupid . 

 

so , it is what it is , i just need to don't use mods hehe.

This post isn't garbage at all! (And you aren't stupid! We all make mistakes like that from time to time )

I'm glad you got your bug fixed, and this thread will probably help others fix theirs as well! Thanks for the input in this matter

I've had the same issue, logged in and all my saved have gone, I had an old save of 189 days on there and two others one including a Shipwreaked save of 12 days or so, simply gone.

With the images I uploaded you can see i have no saves, yet in my morgue alone i have over 250 days of progress recorded, and it still wont show any other character available???

So do I have to turn cloud syncing off, i do believe i did this a long time ago, my internet connection right now is horrific, 0.5mb/sec im going to slap my internet company thats 1% of what im paying for... but could this be the issue it simply cannot get the data fast enough from the cloud so assumes there is none?

Tried starting another game and letting the character die but it had no effect.

This happened to me about a year ago too when I re-installed windows, expect I lost everything, I really don't think saving anywhere other than my own machines hardrive is a good idea, losing data like this is enough for me to never look at Dont Starve again despite having put 168 hours into it... upsetting.



Hey man video games is an escape for us all, it really helped me get through dark periods of my life, time is a great healer and games are fantastic at making time disappear. I truly hope your luck changes even a little, and I also hope video games always offer you the respite you need buddy  (Y)

No, I don't think that's the Cloud's fault, it's probably a bug related to Shipwrecked... you should try contacting the devs about this issue, because I unfortunately have no idea how to help you with that

Also, try surviving long enough to unlock one of the characters, then you'll probably get them all back! If you don't, try using this code for getting all the characters back (just type it down into the console):​

GetPlayer().profile:UnlockEverything()

And if you didn't have all characters unlocked before this happened and don't want to cheat like that, you can simply do this code for you to unlock again each individual character: GetPlayer().profile:UnlockCharacter("willow")

GetPlayer().profile:Save()

Just change "Willow" to the name of the character you want to unlock

Haaaaaa! no , happened again !

 

All my save are deleted ( and character too ) , again , 3 times !!!! In the same way , log the game and .... disaster .....

I stop playing for now , i will come back when the bug will be fixed .... Because its the most annoying bug you can have ...

@ImDaMisterL : doeas this line allow me to recover my saves ??? GetPlayer().profile:Save()

Well , someone said to me on steam if i copy the folder Document / Klei / DoNotStarve / Save    manualy and keep it somewhere in my computer , i can recover at any time my saves if the bug will come again by paste it , so i will try it and tell if it's work. Make a copy after all game shut down is , at least , less annoying than loose all your save.
