saraam Posted December 30, 2015 Share Posted December 30, 2015 Bug Submission: Category: Server Crash Issue Title: Server Crash Lost ALL SERVERS Issue Description: I was playing Don't Starve Together with a friend on Steam. The in-game sound went out suddenly. I exited the game to see if restarting would fix the issue. When I chose "Quit" the game hung on the splash screen. After waiting ten minutes I tried ctrl-alt-delete which did not do anything. My computer was frozen. I hard-reset my computer. I logged back into Steam and started Don't Starve. I chose "host game" as usual and on the server selection page there are NO SERVERS!!!!!!! ALL MY SERVERS ARE GONE!!!! Not just the one I was playing on when the crash happened, but all the other servers I had. Is there any way to fix this and get my servers back. It seems horrible to me that all my games are now gone forever. if I need to start manually backing up a folder it would be nice to know that ahead of time. PLEASE ADVISE ASAP if I can get my servers back Steps to Reproduce: If you want to try reproducing this issue maybe start a server and then hard reset your computer. Developer Etna Posted January 8, 2016 Developer Share Posted January 8, 2016 Unfortunately it sounds like your data got corrupted during the crash, and there is most likely no way to get it back. This is of course not supposed to happen. It's possible that your log.txt file might have some information about why the game hung - you can find it in Documents/Klei/DoNotStarveTogether/. saraam Posted January 14, 2016 Author Share Posted January 14, 2016 Hi Again! The same thing happened AGAIN. I was hosting a server, the sound suddenly went out. I tried exiting the game (disconnecting) and the game hung on the splash screen. I ctrl-alt deleted and my computer stayed frozen. My mouse didnt work, none of my keyboard keys, nothing. I had to force reset again; and when I restarted and got back into the game all my servers were gone AGAIN!!! The problem with manually backing up is that I have no way of knowing when the game will crash and do this. So if I am playing for one or two hours straight the game crashes in the middle of it and I have no chance to make a back up. Unless I want to exit out of the game every 20 minutes and copy the folder and paste it. That seems like such a hassle. Why is this crash happening?? Why would the sound go out and make my computer freeze? This only happens with Dont Starve Together and to be honest is pretty annoying since a hard reset isnt good for my computer, and I keep losing servers which makes it hard to play with friends.
