Ackzay
Let me start off by saying I'm disgusted at how much I enjoy this game.Me being an arsehole and this being the internet lets voice some opinions (friendly suggestions). Maxwell needs some tweaks.Endgame variability is what makes SOME of the characters really stand out. Willow has fire. Wolfgang and rocking constant belt of hunger and perma Buff. WX and Stack Life. I want to like maxwell but his perks suck. His sanity buff is awesome but is it really standout? Does anyone worry about sanity after day 100? I have a few suggestions/wishful thinking for future updates with maxwell in mind. -Shadow puppets suck at the moment. Too weak and too limited in helpfulness. They should help harvest ANYTHING that maxwell can harvest (bamboo/grass/twigs/etc)-Increase entourage limit to 5-Increase HP of puppets to 150-Shadow puppet attack dmg should mirror what maxwell is holding-Shadows auto aggro aggressive mobs within certain range of maxwell. Like how merms act around their house.-Increase speed of puppets so you can't outrun them with a walking cane-No longer need nightmare fuel to summon puppets or remove health penalty when summoning. -Maxwell was a magician so would be nice if he had longer durability with magic items and or cheaper for maxwell to craft.-If entourage limit increased decrease maxwell HP to 50 to incentivize using shadow puppets-Shadow puppets can be healed with nightmare fuel Thats all I got for now.The point of this is to add interesting ways to play LATE GAME. I want to play maxwell at day 200 with a perma entourage where they fight my battles and do my chores for me. These tweaks won't make the game harder, just more interesting for those of us who play 500+ day saves.I doubt any changes to Maxwell will happen but one can wish.Thoughts? Lacost
I always noticed Maxwell being a lategame character. For him to work properly you need a lot of magic stuff and a sturdy supply of nightmare fuel. Now nightmare fuel is essentially hard to gather for Maxwell in Shipwrecked because he can't go insane (easily). In RoG one could farm nightmare fuel in the ruins but those are no longer available in SW. So the interesting way to play Maxwell in SW is to find a way of farming nightmare fuel in a reasonable quantity (dark pedals, beard crabs) and then spam the superior shadow weapons and armor (thulecite is not a thing anymore) and get a good help from his shadow puppets. rezecib
@Lacost, But cutlass supreme is as good as a dark sword and at least as easy to craft. Nightmare armor is good, when considered by itself, but having 75 hp and 95% damage resistance means 1500 effective hp. By comparison, wearing a football helmet on a standard 150-hp character gives you 750 ehp, and before you say "whoa, but that's half of 1500", both of those are more than sufficient for any reasonable fight (and healing foods are quite easy to make), but the football helmet lets you also wear a backpack (or another piece of armor). Maxwell with a football helmet, however, only has 375 ehp, which is getting in the range where you could get stunlocked for a couple of seconds and die. If you, say, have a meat effigy, you're down to 225 ehp with a football helmet, while a 150 hp character is still at 600 ehp with a meat effigy and a football helmet. If you make comparisons to Wigfrid... the ehp gets even more ridiculous, and she has easy mechanisms for getting back sanity in addition to the easy healing and sanity foods. Wigfrid may be overpowered, but it still goes to show that in the late game there are way better options than Maxwell. Basically, Maxwell's easier access to nightmare equipment does not justify his lower health. Everything else about the magic tiers every other character can access just as well in the late game (where sanity is not an issue anyway); Wickerbottom even has more magic options. Toroic
Maxwell isn't a late game character because he doesn't have any advantages late game. Wicker has better magic and Wolfgang has better melee at the end.Wigfrid and wicker both have very strong early games. Max really doesn't. He gets some advantage on early magic items, but that's about it.
