sami1989
'sup guys, Now if I have posted this into the wrong section, feel free to move it please, I thought it wouldn't belong to the Bug section. My topic is a question about how to properly arrange the ports for my router. Because as for now, whenever I play with friends and I host a game for them, my friends (3-4 people) get frequent lags and disconnects. I think it has to be a problem with the ports, because my girlfriend who lives in the same flat as I do, doesn't have any kind of lag or disconnects. ( Because we're using the same router. ) Now I have already tried looking into the router setup, sadly I'm not the one you could call an expert in these things. And even after looking at some guides I got confused with my router, as it is different from others and I don't know what I have to setup there. In this thread: http://www.forums.kleientertainment.com/topic/47849-general-disconnect-issues-dst/I learned about the forwarding UDP traffic on port 10999. Now if you look at these images ( I hope posting gyazo is fine here ): https://gyazo.com/c087e717ab583c3cee9952c9e7a7f7d4https://gyazo.com/744c703f7338f909c373098a3efe0eb0https://gyazo.com/7a403a2edd44e647b4392166d85ab232 I posted all three of them just to be sure, now I think I have to use the forwarding one for this. Sadly I have no idea how and where I should fill in the ports. And by target IP, what kind of IP is asked? I understand if it's too much to ask for, as it really is a guide for beginners.I just wanted to give it a try and ask in the Klei forums. I'm thanking for all help in advance! Woodlegs
That's not how ports work... it's ping. You can't fix it by forwarding ports >.> I ensure you it is not a ping related problem.Yesterday we made another friend of mine open the server and host it to test it, we had no lags/disconnects. The same for the other people who had disconnects when connecting onto my server. And we're also having an upload speed of 25 Mbits in this flat. Omry
Well, getting port forwarding to work can be quite an hassle, i never managed to set mine up over several attemps, you have few options, you can let a hosting company host your server, which i doubt anyone wants since it can cost a bit of money you can go to portforward.com, find out your router brand and do as they say, or you can use an app such as hamachi or tunngle to do that for you, i find option 3 the easiest, good luck!
