[bug] Flood season

Recommended Posts

Usually rain start at the 4th day of the flood season but this time I waited for the rain about 10 days near my base. I planned to put sandbags on the flood area right after they appear. When I already tired to wait after about 10 or more days of the season the rain finally started. Usually flood areas are small at the start and it is enough to put 1-4 sandbags on it. But this time flood areas was already too big to deal with them easily. I think it's because already about half of a season is passed. I don't know if it was a bug or not but it was very annoying because for me I didn't prepare so much sandbags and some of the flood areas covered my alchemic engine already.

This occurred on @Clwnbaby's stream as well, I believe he was intending to make a highlight of it to show.

Personally, I think the flood mechanic definitely needs to be tweaked. The fact that placing sandbags directly in the center of puddles is the best way to deal with them is very counterintuitive; I'm not sure if this was intended or not, but if it wasn't intended, then forming sandbag walls is also not very functional and requires immense amounts of resources.

I would much rather have single-use sand bags that you pour out into a puddle, which causes it to dry up the puddle over the course of a day or two. This would address two problems: when puddles form in the middle of dense structures you've already built (so you can't place a sandbag there, but you might be able to pour the sand), and it would make the mechanic way more intuitive.

It happened to me again. It is about the middle of a season now. First rain is started and all my base is submerged now. And moreover it seems that all my science machines and ice boxes are broken.

I digged into the code and found that flood size is depends on the day of the season. It is reasonable but not in the case when first rain starts so late.

By the way I notices that during the windy season there were just two or three typhoons.
