The red gem is only used for an amulet , which isn't enough , i thought of a new hat idea requiring multiple gems.

All The Gems

These are the gems : Black Gem , Blue Gem , Purple Gem , Yellow Gem , Orange Gem , White Gem , Dark Red Gem , Grey Gem and a Green Gem and the red gem (already implemented)

The Black Gem

The black Gem looks like the Red Gem , but Black , with some light shining on it showing a dark grey color , The black gem is dropped 5% from a Normal spider , 10% from a Warrior Spider and 40% From a Spider Queen. This gem is useless apart from decoration , and also a light source that is colored A dark purple. See below for details.

The Blue Gem

The Blue Gem is the same as a Red and Black Gem , but it is dropped by Birds , its a 10% chance to be dropped by a normal bird , 15% from a Tallbird , and 20% from a Smallbird. Its light color is a blue color , similar to the gem itself.

The Purple Gem

The Purple Gem is like its Counterparts , But instead , is dropped by the tentacle or the "swamp monster" It is a 10% drop from tentacles. if a tentacle is killed by something other than you , it is a 15% chance. Its light color is a bright Purple.

The Yellow Gem

The Yellow Gem is like its Counterparts , But Instead , Is Dropped by Bees. It is a 10% change drop from bees and 15% from a beehive. Its Light Color is an orange-ey color , like a fire.

The Orange Gem

The Orange Gem is like it's Counterparts , But Instead , Is Dropped by Beefalo's. It is dropped at a 10% chance. The Light Color is a Dark Orange.

The White Gem

The White Gem is like it's counterparts , But instead , Is Dropped By Ghost's. It is dropped at a 30% chance by normal ghosts , and a 50% chance by abigail. This is the most common , sinse ghosts are very hard to kill. this gives ghost a more intricate use. The Light Color is a bright white.

The Dark Red Gem

The Dark Red Gem is similar to it's counterparts , But is dropped by Krampus Instead. It is a 30% drop from krampus , you can get it with the krampus bag , but it is very rare too , your much more likely to get either of the two. The Color is a dark red.

The Grey Gem

The Grey Gem is similar to the red gem , as it is dropped by hounds , but only normal hounds. It is a 5% chance sinse Hounds are very common at this moment in time. The color is a murky white.

The Green Gem

The Green Gem is similar to the Other gems , but it is dropped by a treeguard , sinse a treeguard is hard to kill , even with fire , it is a 25% chance that it will drop. The color is a Green.

Uses

Gem Torch

This has been suggested before , but not with different colors , it is a 10 day lasting torch that lights it with the colors (explained above) Each gem would emit a different color , with the red gem being a bright red. this torch would take up the hand slot. The recipe is 1 torch and 1 gem.

Gem Miners Helmet

This hasn't been suggested before from what I've seen. It is a 15 day lasting Miners helmet which lights it with the above colors. Each gem would emit a different color , with the red gem being a bright red. The recipe is 1 Straw hat , 1 mining helmet , 1 gem and 2 fireflies.

Jeweled Crown

If you get 1 of each gem , you can turn it into a Crown. It is a hat that will make the pig king give you DOUBLE the gold when wearing it and giving him an item. The hat would also make a 20% chance that mobs will stop chasing after you. this hat is the only one that cannot be worn by a pig , because its to valuable. The recipe is 15 gold , all of the gems and a Straw hat.

I don't know... do we need gems dropped by every creature? I think it would be more interesting if these gems were a rare find while mining boulders. On the flip side as the gems had no apparent uses, unlike the red gem which is used to craft the Amulet, I'm wondering if there is a point to "rainbow gems". Rather, how about we include a rare diamond from mining boulders and allow it to be used when crafting some type of steam-powered or crank-handle drill (maybe an upgrade to the pick axe).

Let us know if you come up with uses for the gems you suggested.

Refresh , I just had to finish some things off because i had to switch computers.

So this wasn't an attempt to make me look silly...? Fair enough. ;)

I don't know... people keep suggesting longer-lasting light sources, but I like the limited nature of the game's existing light sources. Nothing is as fun as watching a Let's Play as a player runs around with a torch and you wonder... will they make it back to their camp fire in time? :)

So no, I don't think we need a longer lasting torch.

True, I don't recall this being suggested, however I do recall suggestions to extend the life of the Miner's Helmet light. As with the gem torch, I feel the Miner's Helmet light source should be limited in duration. That being said, I still promote my idea that we allow players to refine silk into string, add beeswax to the game (harvested from hives/bee boxes), and allow players to craft candles by combining string and beeswax. These candles could then be used to replace fireflies in the crafting formula for the Miner's Helmet. One reason for this is because players wanted to be able to wear the helmet without using it up... with a candle you could have it that the player needs to RMB on it with flint (while wearing it) to light it and extinguish the helmet by unequiping it.

Rather than more gold ore... why not allow it to retain all "bribed" pig men until sunset? Right now pig men bribed with food only stay with you a set duration... then they wander off. The crown could instead have them stay with you until sunset (when all pig men run home).

No , its because I had to switch computers to finish off because it was getting late.

Fair enough , I can see people have mixed emotions with light sources lasting long , but sinse they're hard to come from , its kind of fair to make it so people will go to trouble to get it.

Yes , the Mining hat does need some things that change. A candle would be a nice edition.

Yes , but the thing is the pigmen don't currently pay any attention to the pig king , and I was thinking of the idea that the pig king might be more generous sinse they might think that you are a king , meaning that they might trade more because your royalty.

Though this could definently work , though its not that useful for all the trouble you have to go through to craft it.

True, they don't really do much for him. The only issue I have is that right now it's crazy easy to get tons of gold ore from the pig king even without a crown. Now if they ever implemented a limit to how much gold ore the pig king gives you, say, only 2-4 ore per day, then having a crown that doubles this amount could be useful.

Yes, which would mean maybe the standards need to be lowered (i.e. fewer gems).
