Map-crafting for exchanging the map information with each other

The idea is surely quite old.

 

One character can craft a map (maybe with papyrus and so on ;-)), which contains a snapshot of the map information of that player. Another player can use the map in order to add the unknown (blacked areas) and new map information into the character's map. The craftable map can have maybe 3 or 2 usages.

 

This will save the players alot of time exploring the world and enable more goal-oriented traveling. With the caves, DST became very huge!

 

Another thing maybe is building a hot-air baloon :-D. It would be possible to travel with it over the upper world and sighting chosen areas (similarly with the spy glass in shipwhrecked). Maybe also carrying cargo would be nice. The baloon needs to be repaired, because of the usages.

I just want the "map-sharing' feature. The map-crafting is meh,... feels not quite good with me.

 

This will make the gameplay easier, but also strange: In real time you see, what other players are discovering. How and why does it function? I don't mean it technically of course. In the game you are controlling just one character. Its not like a strategy game, where you can send your fellows in different directions. Implementing features, which work abstract - behind the scene, not touchable and has nothing todo with reality, will spoil the gameplay in DST. I think so, because DST already have alot of these "touchable things", which makes DST to that great game, what it is.

 

I would support an automatic map-sharing feature with crafting a walki-talki-like devices (magic(?)), which people can share with each other, carrying and then get the map-updates over time from other players.
