server can't be seen on server list and can't log into

Now at this point and 3 days of working on this I apologize for seeming rash, but now I am a bit more then frayed at the edges at both steam and don't starve.

 

Let me explain

 

 

So I am no noob when it comes to servers dedicated or other wise, and our organization thought we would add this one to our list, and well I personally have had a bit enjoyment from the game so I took it on myself to just get this set up. Here I was thinking 5 min no big deal. Man was I fooling myself.

 

at this point this is what I'm looking at

 

windows 7 os

port is forwarded twice once for tcp and once for udp.

program is added to firewall once for tcp and once for udp

the port is added to the fire wall for tcp and udp once for each.

token is in

now this thing is telling me the port is not right and the firewall is not right. At this point the firewall is not turned on so that we can get this to actually work without firewall issues.

 

so at this point it still can't be seen by anyone or logged into and I have been at this for 3 days now. Any help will except.

 

It's simple: firewall.

 

Your logs shows no error but the simple 10999 cannot portforward by firewall.

 

You have to portforward it both from your router and from advanced firewall. Normally both tcp-udp is 10990-10999 allow it to be recognized.

 

I normally teach using TeamViewer and help assist others regarding to this situation. If you trust me enough, please add me on Steam and we can talk from there, otherwise let me know how's it going. I can login to Don't Starve Together and try joining your server, if I can see it.

the administrator for our server network has been alerted to the need in opening up the ports on the router from 10990-10999. I will let you know of any change if any once that change has been made in effect. I have also made adjustments to the os firewall, but that application is currently off or disabled for these tests to insure it doesn't effect the start up.

 

Primary concern is getting it up and running in the first place, and as of yet that hasn't happened based on all the information given on here and the wikia, and that is what is most aggravating. There was no mention anywhere of a port rang only a required port.

 

Thank you for your offer to check the connection but the server is not ran on the same network as my personal game but rather from our data center located on another network entirely so I should be able to either direct connect or find it on the game default server list. Again as of yet none of that has happened.

 

We do not use teamviewer on our networking computers so the install of it would not be in our best interest at this time, but again thank you for the offer. We use windows remote desktop to interact with our server boxes as all our servers are windows os. (point of preference).

 

I will report back here of any change based on your suggestion and thank you for your time in attempting to help on this situation.

Yes I am pleased to report that opening up a port rang as in from-to on the router did work and the server can be seen now and logged into.

This is something that should be brought up and addressed in wikia information as well as here on the forums more readily.
