[General] - Buggy Touch Support

Bug Submission:

Category: General

Platform: PC

Issue Title: Buggy Touch Support

Issue Description: Some touch gesture are not properly supported and others lead to buggy gameplay

Steps to Reproduce: For example, when wanting to end the turn, you have to "double-tap" the Next Turn button.

Once the AI has played and your next turn start, tapping almost anywhere would automatically end the turn, making you miss the chance to play.

Also, right-clicking to select where the character is supposed to go is a bit counter intuitive.

I'm pretty sure if you guys try it you will see how it's very frustrarting to play with touch.

It's really too bad because I was looking forward to this game, having bought the Shanks and having been thrilled by Mark of the Ninja

Hope you guys find a fix for this soon!

Thanks for listening

Hey Pawa, thanks for the report.

We don't officially support touch controls yet. Some people have reported it working fine on touch devices although they requested a pause button on the screen which we added. Sounds like your device is working differently than those. Talking with a programmer, it might be that the touch screen is registering a click before registering the location.. so that when the click is processed it's using the last location you touched. That would explain why you need to double click the end turn button, also why when you click the screen after the enemy turn, it ends the turn. That's just a guess for now though without knowing what touch system you are using.

Right click for move was the result of a lot of iteration and playing with different schemes. Left click movement results in a lot more accidental movement due to clicking on in-world buttons.

If you can let us know what touch system you are using, it will help us find out exactly what the problem is so we can figure out a way to fix it.

Hi Jason,

Thank you for taking the time to answer. My device is a:

HP Spectre x360 with 8gb or RAM

http://store.hp.com/us/en/mdp/Laptops/spectre-x360-211501--1

I'm currently running Windows 8.1 x64 (fully updated)

The System Configuration reports that its supporting "Pen and Full Windows Touch support with 10 Touch Points", whatever that means :p

The right clicking was more a wish than an actual annoyance, but the double-tap and miss click making me lose a turn is a deal breaker for me unfortunately.

I can understand the "no touch support" due to time constraint, making some gesture unavailable (like pinch to zoom, etc). But the clicking algorithm you guys seems to be using is just plainly not working on my system.

With Windows 8 and soon 10 supporting touch, maybe it could be wise to try and allow time for some QA on touch enabled laptops

Thanks again for your time!

Pawa

In the meantime, a new config that could enable us to "confirm" that we want to end the turn might help a bit? Just a tought.

Thanks again,

Pawa
