MIgrate game to dedicated server

Recommended Posts

I have a game that I started with some friend that I would like to migrate to a dedicated server (running on my machine). I was hoping it would be as easy as:

1. Installing the dedicated server from within Steam

2. Running the "TheNet:GenerateServerToken()" command.

3. Running dontstarve_dedicated_server_nullrenderer.exe from the command line.

When I try to launch the server, I get

[00:00:02]: [200] Account Failed (6): "E_INVALID_TOKEN"
[00:00:02]: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
[00:00:02]: !!!! Your Server Will Not Start !!!!
[00:00:02]: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can post the whole log if needed, but I have have tried several things without any luck. I ran the ""TheNet:GenerateServerToken()" command several times, copied the server token into the Settings.ini file, moved the files to a different directory and used the -conf_dir command, verified the game's files through steam, etc. Any ideas on how to make this work?

I have tried just using the default directory (not copying the file at all), copying the entire file to a custom directory, and copying just the string from inside the file to my Setting.ini file, but none of them have worked for me.

Here are the exact steps that I took to generate the server token:

1. Launch DST.

2. At the main screen, press ~.

3. Paste in "TheNet:GenerateServerToken()".

4. Press enter.

5. Close DST.

6. Open a command prompt.

7. cd to the directory containing dontstarve_dedicated_server_nullrenderer.exe.

8. Run dontstarve_dedicated_server_nullrenderer.exe.
