DS linked with DST

I think that DST should sink to DS so you can only use the characters you have unlocked (maybe allow the first 3 for new players) and add Maxwell, Wes and Woddie (3 W men). This -in my opinion- would make the game more beneficial to players of DS so what they managed to achieve, they can bring into DST, it wouldn't really make sense if you had to go through the 5 adventure levels to get Maxwell on DS and end up having everyone play as him on DST.

While I understand what you're saying about keeping the rewards for those who achieved them in singleplayer, there's a couple problems with this approach:

 

1) DS and DST are standalone games. While I'm sure player profile could somehow be linked, it makes for messy coding when the two games have diverged so much.

 

2) Not all DST owners have DS, or even plan to get it. That means new people have to play with Wilson-only (or Wilson, Willow, Wolfgang) until they unlock the other characters. Not only would that make for a pretty limiting experience for mixed groups, but XP isn't implemented into DST, so there's no method of unlocking.

 

3) As far as I know, no official stance has been taken on whether Maxwell will be a special character unlocked only through some sort of challenge mode, or if he'll be provided along with all the rest once the devs are done tweaking/balancing. If anyone wants to play him now, here's a mod for the time being. With regards to "having everyone play as him", the same thing can happen with any other character right now, even without being stuck on the nightmare throne. I imagine that if he's provided as a playable character only after completing Adventure Mode, there will be some sort of balance in that area as well - maybe only one person becomes him but he's unlocked for everyone.
