Feedback for Wendy and Abigail

Recommended Posts

I love Wendy and I love her kit, but playing her has proven to be a huge problem as compared to other characters.

Wendy has low attack damage and is borderline useless by herself against mobs. This is balanced out with her minion, Abigail, who has a decent AoE attack and HP. This would be all well and good if it weren't for the fact that you can't choose your battles with Abigail.

She will draw aggro from monsters when you *don't want to draw aggro*, often leading to a very unnecessary death for either her or the player. Swamps are a perfect example of this problem. When the tentacles surface to attack, it's very easy to just sidestep and walk away unscathed. Unless you have an Abigail; you need to run away and pray that you put enough distance between yourself and Abigail that she will lose aggro and follow you. Or you could turn around and attack the tentacle, which will be difficult if there are more than one in a spot.

The other example is when I'm trying to farm spiders. Taking down spider nests would normally be easy, except for when Abigail aggros the spiders on their web and draws spider warriors.

There have been other instances where Abigail will aggro other players, usually due to them clicking on her while she wandered too close while they were doing something.

I suggest taking the cooldown off of Abigail for when she's dismissed by the player...this shouldn't break the balance because she costs 50 sanity to summon in the first place. Summon her twice and you'll be seeing shadows. Keep the cooldown for when she actually dies to mobs.

Agree completely. I play Wendy a Lot and Abigail is just stupid aggro machine. I think she should only attack if player does so but not when the player is attacked by tentacles for instance. There was also a mod controlling the Abigail fighting style but I'd say it would be an overkill to include into the core game.

I wished Abigail's flower acted like the eyebone, where she could be moved at your own discretion. The issue with that is that she'd take up an inventory slot, though.

Alternatively, the current mechanic of dropping Abigail's flower when she is voluntarily attacked could be buffed so that the flower will be open when that happens - and doesn't cause sanity loss on re-spawning Abigail.
