werlpolf
Hello together, first at all, I want to thank you for the hard work and in continuously improving this game. DST have become already a great game! Therefore I like to share some critics and ideas for this game, since I also played alot online with some friends, but also at most with 'strangers'. 1. You don't want to start everytime from the beginning. Therefore loading the same world with the same character and his inventory is great, but maybe not sufficient in multiplayer. You have more items storing in chests and leaving them alone by going back to real world. Friends will sooner or later also leave and cannot take care of a base created with alot of work and gameplay hours. When you came back to Don't Starve world, you find yourself in a destroyed and looted base. I mean, it cannot be, that people, who can only play 1-2 h per day will be punished for that and they even don't know where their things or who the thiefs are - the fairest solution would be, that you can let defend your base by tamed pigs or hounds and if the thiefs manage to breach the defense, they can get everything. But not like walking into the base and open every chest, without knowing if he/she took something from it. friends and 'good' strangers could be declared as allies (simply in the tab-menu) and the tamed animals wouldn't attack them .... - maybe max. 1 chest could disappear with your character while leaving and logging off. their you can store more things then in your backpack and when logging in, the chests with its inventory could come back like your character ... 2. When their is a fight between two or more players and one seems to lose the battle, then he/she runs. Some smart players come to the idea just logging off and let the character disappear (great combination with point 1.). I hope this was not wanted by Klei. In my opinion it is unfair and supports massively bad behavior. - this could be very simply solved: like to let unable to sleep their character during fighting, the character shouldn't also be unable to leave the world in combat situations. The player itself should get the chance to log off, but he/she can get a warning that his/her character wouldn't leave the world (maybe with a timeout from 10/20 seconds the character will anyway disappear). Then the opponent have the chance to win a battle and for example be able to crush the playerless character and get his loot back XD 3. If you drop something, everyone can take it, which is very ok. If you drop your backback, because you take an armor then I don't know if this is really ok, if a stranger take it and run away or even disappear. - a good solution would be, that if someone takes someones backpack, the characters movement would slow down for some time (maybe 1-2 minutes for 0.5 * movement) and the damage taken by this character would increase, by 1.25 or 1.5 4. If you get killed in wilderness game-type and rejoin, your map is blacked. Maybe the client can still keep the previous map-information while the world of the server is still the same. The player itself at least can still remember of course the map and has to use his memory, how the world look (not looked!) like. These were the main-issues. I know the Klei-Team is busy with other things, but it would be great to put some thougts about these 4 points into the next design-process. I want to underline, that it is not going for me about to differentiate in don't starve worlds, what is mine and what is yours, but simply implement more fairness and bring the player to a more social behavior, by not supporting stealing and killing eachother ( in my current view, best is to kill everyone on the server ). I know the real world is not fair, but it doesn't mean DST have to be Anyway all the mentioned aspects should not be unterstood as restrictions, since everything should still be possible (killing, stealing, hunting, burning, destroying, ....). But these points would come to many players ( I really hope ) very handy and make the Don't Starve World more dynamically and multiplayer-friendlier Best regards, Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/51092-playing-together-in-a-social-and-fair-way/ Share on other sites
