Permadeath Bug?

When playing on a server with 5 friends, I died multiple times, ending up with 16 max health. I died again, and when they tried to resurrect me using a Telltale Heart, nothing happened. My ghost sprite went through the resurrection animation, but my character was not standing there at the end, and I couldn't move or perform any actions.

 

I tried logging out and in again, and I was alive momentarily after logging back in before immediately dying and becoming a ghost again. The message that came up was that I died due to shenanigans. This process repeated three times and I could not come back to life through any means, regardless of whether it was with a meat effigy or telltale heart or a  resurrection stone. We even tried console commands to spawn resurrection stones, but all I could do was haunt them and I couldn't come back to life.

 

The wikia http://dont-starve-game.wikia.com/wiki/Don%27t_Starve_Together mentions that "Respawning with the Telltale Heart or with the Jury-Rigged Portal will apply a 20-point or 40-point maximum health penalty, respectively, on the player which caps at 30 maximum health point. The health penalty can be reduced by using a Booster Shot." So I'm wondering if what I experienced was a bug? I can only justify what happened by assuming that I went into negative health, which is why I insta-died when relogging. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Is this just how it's meant to be-- punishment for dying too many times?

@cazminah, Yeah, this is a bug with modded characters that have low health. Right now, the game caps the penalty at 3x meat effigy penalty (so 120 health total, leaving 30 health for most characters). It's up to the mod maker how to address this, if they are going do, but the way I did it for Maxwell in More DST Characters was to cap it at leaving him with 30 health.

 

You'll just have to tell the mod developer (best way is to comment on the mod on Steam), and you can point them towards More DST Characters if they need some ideas on how to handle it.
