Button in Mods menu to Verify/Re-Download All Mods?

Recommended Posts

I've been meaning to ask about this, because I am subscribed to many, many mods.

Would it be at all feasible to have a button to verify/re-download all mods instead of the Mods menu going through the entire process every time you want to change a mod configuration slightly, or re-enable a mod after a crash?

Even if it were a hidden button until you add a line to the modsettings.lua to enable it for debugging purposes, it would be so exceptionally helpful! Sometimes my mods menu takes several minutes to become available and I'm usually not opening it to get new versions of mods. A way to configure it to never check for updates or verify mods would be great in the meantime if at all possible.

@outseeker, The reason it does this every time is because it's actually the only way it had to download mods. Until DST, there was no version information attached to mods. Peter came up with the idea of storing it in a tag, and he's said he's working on a system that will check these tags and just download the ones that are out of date. Once that's in place, he has ideas for a "purge mods" button and maybe some other related ones.

So, I think it's coming, and hopefully relatively soon :D. The downloading every time was the worst part about having Up and Away on my subscriptions in DS... Fortunately I don't have any super heavy mods subscribed in DST yet.

@rezecib, that's cool, I can appreciate why it is the way it is and I'm not really calling for drastic change- just I was really hoping for a quick and dirty method to disable that whole shabang somehow while locally editing and testing code- It really does increase the time taken to get things done when a 5 second config change operation takes several minutes of loading XD
