MaximusLight Posted January 21, 2015 Share Posted January 21, 2015 I will tell my mini story, I found it funny so thats enough motivation for me to share.My friend never played DS before and I played it a bit before, so I knew the basics only.It was our 3rd attempt on DTS to survive until first winter. So I said to my friend - Like the last time, we need to make a lot of chests full with bunnies and wood, winter is hard to survive - I reminded him. We found place with lots of bunny holes, not-so-far-away beefalos, so we started base and gathering... when day 16 reached, I told my friend that we should cut all trees that we planted near base (about 50-60) as our chests were full with bunnies but no wood, so we proceeded, we knew that chances for tree guardian to spawn is very high as we cut many trees and it didn't spawned yet, so I prepared extra axes and then, as we started off first 5 trees - it spawned, I said that I will deal with it and he should continue cutting trees; And the problem never comes alone - just when I finished off guardian another spawned, this one was harder to beat as I'm not a pro kiter yet and I taken some dmg from the first one because of my rushy actions to do 3 swings before dodging so I had to be careful and hit 2 times to be safe, on top of that night was coming. As my friend finished cutting trees, he left all that precious wood laying down on the ground to help me out for the last swings to beat monster and few more days left before our first winter - lightning striked and burnt all our laying wood resources. Looking how all our wood burning was sad shocking and at the same quite funny (maybe sadistic) experience we had in Don't Starve Together. Now lightning rod is a must. My friend made screenshot that I attached now, on screenshot is only half of the wood we had cut. We all tend to look too far ahead that we forget the dangers that could happen anytime, in this case lightning. One time, I was picking a naturally spawned clump of berry bushes in a Pig Town while it started to rain...and... you know what happens next. Sad days, sad days indeed. Well, at least we'll have more ashes to fill all our ashy needs. Cheers. This happened in one of my first plays. I thought the Pig King would stand up and attack me.
