GlassDeviant
Why do some mod authors make their mods only available on Steam? Not everyone uses Steam, there are other places to get Don't Starve (and many other games), such as GOG.com. GlassDeviant
I even see where some authors make some of their mods available on the Klei mod download site, but not others. WTF? puningtilde
Is someone who makes mods expected to upload their mod to every site possible? SeriousCreeper
Not having released one yet but the dont starve mod tools on steam have an uploader that uploads them to workshops (or so it seems). I assume it's a convenience thing. Most people probably have the game on steam. You could ask the mod maker of a particular mod you like to upload it somewhere else. jbeetle
probably because Steam is most convenient for both the author and the user. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/49459-steamed-about-steam/#findComment-604183 Share on other sites
nossr50
I plan to upload my mods to Klei's site eventually, but for now while they are in testing I'm keeping them on steam, it's a lot of work to maintain multiple sources of distribution if your mod is undergoing changes still Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/49459-steamed-about-steam/#findComment-604190 Share on other sites
GlassDeviant
Is someone who makes mods expected to upload their mod to every site possible? I would expect that if someone makes three mods, and two of them are posted on both Klei and Steam, that the third would not be posted only on Steam. bigpak
You can use this to download mods from the steam workshop and just put then into a renamed folder into your standalone mods folder if you do not own the game on steam. http://steamworkshopdownloader.com/ Just put the link from the workshop page that has the mod on it, and download it. Moderators, if I have done anything wrong with posting this link please remove my post, I do not know if I am allowed to show this link, so please let me know if I have done anything wrong, I apologize in advance. Well you shouldn't expect anything really, those are mods, things done by the community for free in their sparetime, they can do whatever they want. We should be happy we even have mods! But like i said before, you could always try to ask the mod maker if he/she would be so kind to upload it somewhere else as well.
