AnotherInternetOpinion Posted December 21, 2014 Share Posted December 21, 2014 Intensity Curve needs modulation - Even DOTA has a pause button. Once you get into it, you really can't stop. This can be exhausting for players, and makes things like going to the bathroom, grabbing a snack, or even just reading the tech tree really hard. Death mechanic problems - It kind of sucks when you die and you can't really play without other players saving you. You can be out of the game for a long time, and that is bad. But what is worse is you cause the Sanity loss for all the other players. This mechanic encourages players to disconnect if they die, only to be resurrected by a heart when one is available. Finding my friends - It's supposed to be Don't Starve together but its REALLY hard to know where your friends are. Having some marker that would let me know where they are (at least their general location) would help tremendously. Since the maps are randomly generated it's super challenging to even tell people the general location of where they are (and that is assuming you're all on voice togehter). As a result you can wind up wandering aimlessly for days trying just to sync up. Overall the game is fun, but the issues that plague it make it very hard to play for long periods of time. Burnout is high and the difficulty curve (while I feel it is spot on) makes re-starting after a certain amount of investment feel like a chore. I hope that this helps. Ridley Posted December 21, 2014 Share Posted December 21, 2014 They are going to add a AFK button that will allow you to take a break without pausing the whole world, but I haven't seen anything on the annoying sanity loss and the finding friends problem. That being said, I think they need to keep the sanity drain after ghosts disconnect in Survival, because having kicking/leaving be a way out of it sets up a bad incentive system. Odinfrom Posted December 23, 2014 Share Posted December 23, 2014 if people want to do that "This mechanic encourages players to disconnect if they die", yeah go ahead, they play how they want, if they want to have long day (almost no night, no issue for sanity), if they want to cheat by using a mod which make you able to respawn at the fire..and so on. So if people want to cheat, they will be able, I remember the mod which prevented the savegame from being deleted.
