[Request] Character Shirt Colour Selection

Hi there!

 

I absolutely love the work the modding community has been doing for Don't Starve and now Don't Starve Together, thanks to all modders !!

 

I've been fortunate enough to be playing DST for almost a month now, and it's been loads of fun, especially since capability to add mods was introduced. One thing that I would love to see created, that I feel would add just a little more diversity and personality to DST, is a mod that allows you to choose the shirt colour of your character at the select screen. I feel as though this would be easy, although I know next to nothing about modding so correct me if I'm wrong. I mostly (exclusively) play with a group of friends, and we'll probably consistently have 5-6 players on when we're playing now, thanks to Frontier Pack (Thank-you Klei!! :D). We will undoubtedly experience some character selection overlap, as most of us prefer playing as Wilson.

 

Now I know that presently, each character on the server is represented by a uniquely coloured circle when they are just off screen from you, but to my knowledge there is nowhere that indicates which colour you are; you must rely on a friend telling you 'you're blue on my screen'. Wouldn't it be great if, instead, while selecting your character, there was a little shirt-colour modifier somewhere? This way, you could choose yourself which colour shirt you want to wear, and can tell your friends upon logging in "I'm blue Wilson!"

 

If there is anybody out there who could tackle this, I would be forever grateful, as I'm sure many others would too! Please and thank you? :)

@maniacc0, If there's a way to recolor specific parts of the build, then this wouldn't be that hard. I've never seen anything that does that, though, and the Anim objects aren't incredibly well-documented.

 

Otherwise, this would involve making recolored copies of every character's tex, which would be realllly tedious...

 

Edit: I think Dryicefox is working on something similar to this, though.

Yeah I don't think this kind of specific recolor is supported the way the character files are set up? But it'd be easy enough to request a small recolor mod of whichever character you wanted, it'd probably take less than an hour to set it up. I'm not sure other players would appreciate the workshop getting filled with character recolors, however...
